Golf Sportwagen TDI option packaging annoys the hell out of me.

I want:

The bolstered “comfort sport” seats.

Lighting package.

However, the seats only come in the SEL trim line, and Lighting package only is available in SE or SEL. However, the SEL comes with Nav, and both of those packages come with the panorama sunroof, and the stupid Fender audio system that I don’t want!

And ALL TDI’s come with a backup camera and keyless entry. Which I don’t care for and are not standard on the TSI.

Bah!

I’d like the Sunroof but could do with out Nav and push start, nor do I need a back up cam. Packaging sucks.

must be a mark 7 thing, I remember the 2 choices on the mark 6 were: color, sunroof/nav.

I think I’m going to either get an SE + lighting package, or get an S and add aftermarket replica HID’s and buy someone’s GTI seats off of a forum.

I may do the latter, because I don’t care for upsized wheels since I plan to get really light Neuspeed wheels anyway.

Then don’t buy a new one. My 09 has a cooler in the glove compartment, AC vents int eh back, and a 110v outlet all features that got pulled in 10. Things get change around every year the options you want exists just not for 2015/2016 models.

When I bought mine in 2013 the dealership I dealt with was awesome. I went in on a Saturday test drove a DSG TDI as they had no manuals on the lot. Apparently they sell very few manual TDIs in NoVA. We talked price but I said I wanted a manual, his response was what are you looking for and I’ll see what I can find. I was hoping for for Blue over Tan (black was also acceptable), Manual, TDI, No-Nav. Three days later I get a phone call saying the car I want is on their lot and to stop in to test drive it when I was free, I bought it the following Saturday.

Sounds like you found a great dealership.

I had a great experience with Mossy VW when I bought my R, and I’ll most likely go back to them for a TDI.

They are good people, I agree the new tiers for the TDI aren’t the best. Though the logic behind the TSI was to get the price of the “base” TDI down as the base TDI model in 2013 was really the middle trim (SE?) if you went with the gas version.

We’ve got it on the Prius and Equinox but I still don’t particularly care for them/need them
